Introduction
There are many heart emoji and their specific meanings can be ambiguous, leading to miscommunication. Standardising on a well defined set of meanings will lead to fewer communication errors.
Scope
This standard applies to all usages of the following heart emojis. This standard does not apply to any unmentioned heart emojis.
This standard aims to reduce confusion rather than restrict linguistic innovation. As such, heart emojis used for non-standard meanings are still MG0001 compliant, provided the meaning is agreed upon by the emojiโs intended recipients. This does not include any non-standard meanings which conflict with MG0001โs Rejected meanings.
Terminology
Accepted meanings should be encouraged and positively reinforced.
Rejected meanings should be avoided and actively discouraged. When receiving a message specifically avoid considering these meanings.
Global Rules
Hearts can only increase positive emotions. Hearts never decrease or downgrade feelings in messages they appear in or those established in previous communications.
